New EO prioritizes innovation, requires agencies to freeze AI work initiated by Biden EO
On Thursday, President Trump signed an AI Executive Order pushing his Administration to sustain and enhance America’s global AI dominance and to cease any work ordered by the Biden Administration that conflicts with that goal. The full executive order is available here.
“President Trump has made it clear from day one that his top priority on AI is out-innovating the rest of the world,” said ARI Executive Director Eric Gastfriend. “Today’s executive order is a placeholder until the Administration has a chance to develop a full strategy for executing that vision. Following the repeal of the Biden AI EO earlier this week, agencies had already frozen work on AI policies initiated by the last Administration, so this new instruction shouldn’t come as a surprise.”
