RFI comment urges action on AI risk, workforce development, standard setting
On Friday, Americans for Responsible Innovation (ARI) submitted a comment to the Trump Administration in response to a Request for Information (RFI) supporting the development of an AI Action Plan. ARI’s comment highlights policies supporting the administration’s key objectives of strengthening national security, enhancing economic competitiveness, and supporting human flourishing.

“The key word in the administration’s proposed AI Action Plan is action,” said ARI Executive Director Eric Gastfriend. “For America to lead on AI, the White House is going to have to pursue a proactive agenda that addresses national security issues, international competitiveness, and workforce risks before any of these issues turns into a crisis. With the right policies in place, this administration can make sure AI serves as a force for national strength. By taking a hands off approach, lawmakers risk repeating the same mistakes made on social media policy, where inaction fueled problems from privacy abuses to youth harms.”
In an executive order released earlier this year, the Administration announced that its AI agenda will serve to promote national security, economic competitiveness, and human flourishing. Last month, the Office of Science and Technology Policy announced its RFI on the development of an AI Action Plan. Comments are due on March 15.
