Tech appointees prioritize innovation, standard setting, security
On Thursday, Americans for Responsible Innovation (ARI) announced a list of endorsements for President Trump’s appointments on tech. The endorsements included Secretary of Commerce appointee Howard Lutnick, who emphasized the importance of U.S. AI leadership, export controls, domestic chips manufacturing, and standard setting at a Senate confirmation hearing yesterday.
The full list of endorsements from ARI includes:
- Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce
- Michael Kratsios, Director of OSTP
- Gail Slater, Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice Antitrust Division
- Jacob Helberg, Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment
- Dan Driscoll, Secretary of the Army
“This is a slate of appointees who are going to make sure the U.S. leads on AI innovation and that our most advanced tech doesn’t fall into the hands of adversaries,” said ARI President Brad Carson. “What we’re already seeing in confirmation hearings is that this Administration plans to prioritize the creation of U.S.-led AI standards that allow our tech sector to flourish while mitigating risks. These appointees understand the promise of AI, they see the threats to U.S. leadership, and they’re ready to confront the risks.”
